Let us Worship in Spirit and Truth

John 4: 24 (KJV)
24God is a Spirit they that worship Him MUST worship Him in spirit and in truth.
One writer noted–The more you can work yourself into a state of bliss in feeling like you are really achieving a state of “worship” by letting yourself go in the music and rhythm of the “worship” time, the more you can justify what you are doing the rest of the week when you are not “worshiping” God. This “worship” then becomes an excuse and justification process whereby Christians can rid themselves of the guilt of not obeying the Lord in their lives.
Warren Wiersbe defines worship as, “the believers response of all that they are – mind, emotions, will and body – to all that God is and says and does.”
However, the Bible defines worship and sacrifice as obedience. We worship God by obeying the Lord. We prove we love Him by our obedience to His Word and to the Holy Spirit.
It is important to note that authentic worship of God can only be found in a real relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ. Salvation is the first step in developing a worshipful spirit. The only access that anyone has to the Father is through the Son-1 Tim.2:5 “for there is one God and one mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus; Who gave Himself a ransom for all”.
All genuine worship of God is the work of the Holy Spirit in the life/spirit of the believer. Who knows the Lord better than His Holy Ghost – 1 Cor.2:11 “For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? Even so the things of God knoweth no but the Spirit of God?” Therefore, as the believer yields to the influence of the Spirit of God in his life, worship will be the result. Any worship that is not motivated and directed by the Holy Spirit will be flawed at best and blasphemous at worst.” The truth of the matter is summed up in the fact that worship originates with God and only a relationship with Him can stimulate true worship. We come on weekly saying the service is dead or the music is dead but in reality, it’s our spiritual life that is dead!
Have a great and God filled day!
