Abiding in Christ, the True Vine

Abiding in Christ, the True Vine

Category : General

St. John 15:2 (KJV)
2Every branch in me that beareth not fruit he taketh away: and every branch that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit.

It is noted, “A soul filled with large thoughts of the Vine will be a strong branch, and will abide confidently in Him. Be much occupied with Jesus, and believe much in Him, as the True Vine.

In verse 2, Jesus uses the phrase “in Me.” He is telling us that He is speaking here to people who are in a vital, life-giving relationship to Himself; He is speaking to those who are saved. No one can be considered a branch in the Lord’s Vine unless there is a vital connection to Him. No one can bear fruit for the glory of the Lord unless they are attached to the Vine. No less than 6 times in these verses, Jesus uses the phrase “in Me.” He is talking about a situation that is an absolute necessity for life and fruit bearing.

It is important for us to know and understand that no one can be a fruitful branch for the glory of God until they have a vital, life-giving connection to the Vine. They have to be a right relationship with Christ and without that vital connection, the “sap of life” cannot flow in and through you. Before we can have anything else, from God or with God, we must have that relationship to God. Before we can have a hope of Heaven, or forgiveness of sin, we must have a relationship with Him. If we are not in the Vine, then there is no way for us to share in the Vine’s life. This is all about a vital union between the believer and the Lord Jesus Christ, the True Vine.

Have a great and God filled day!
